We Made it to Portugal!

Dear Loved Ones,
After a 6-hour delay in the Salt Lake Airport, we left for Paris, France.  Of course this played havoc with our next scheduled flight, which was changed twice before we arrived.  With all the changes we weren't sure that anyone would be at the airport in Lisbon to meet us, but Elder and Sister Lund were there and took us to our apartment.  They drove two cars and left one of them with us, so we are on wheels.

Our apartment is wonderful.  It is furnished beautifully and the two ladies who furnished it thought of almost everything, including cleaning supplies, dishes, cookware, a nice fan (which we are needing badly because it is hot here right now), microwave, washing machine, towels, a little food, etc., etc.

We met with the outgoing mission president yesterday and Mike was able to share the story of his father's conversion many years ago in Brazil.  He was about 5 years old and remembered some of the circumstances, but not all.  Mike presented him with a copy of his old journal and a translation into Portuguese.  We were invited to dinner with him and his wife and the Lunds.

Today we are flying to Madrid, Spain for a meeting tomorrow.  There is supposed to be an airline strike the next few days, so we are coming back on a train and we will have a sleeping car.  This should be a fun experience.  Our understanding is that the meeting is in the Madrid Temple Complex, so we assume that we will get to see the temple.

We don't have an internet connection in our apartment yet, so I am writing to you from our office.  There are quite a few church employees who work out of this office and they all seem very nice.  Most of them speak at least some English.  Our ward meets in the other half of our building and they are both located pretty close to our apartment.

We are happy to be here and ready to serve.  Our love to each of you.
Elder and Sister Henry
